BBL HEROic, MOXI Tribrid and HALO Tribrid: Which Treatment Is Right for Your Skin?

BBL HEROic, MOXI Tribrid and HALO Tribrid: Which Treatment Is Right for Your Skin?

Discover how BBL HEROic, MOXI Tribrid and HALO Tribrid work alone and together to treat pigmentation, ageing and cherry angiomas.

When patients begin exploring advanced laser treatments, they’re often surprised to discover there isn’t a single treatment that does everything. One laser wavelength may be exceptional at reducing pigmentation, while another is better suited to improving skin texture or stimulating collagen deep within the skin.

This is exactly why combination treatments have become such an important part of modern aesthetic medicine.

At Takroni Clinic in Fitzrovia, London, we rarely look at one concern in isolation. Patients may come to us because of sun damage, but they often also have uneven texture, enlarged pores, redness or early signs of ageing. Rather than treating each concern separately, we create treatment plans that address multiple layers of the skin in the most efficient way possible.

Three of the treatments we use most frequently are BBL HEROic, MOXI Tribrid, and HALO Tribrid. Each works differently, and when combined appropriately, they can produce exceptional improvements in skin quality with treatment plans tailored to each individual.

What is BBL HEROic?

BBL HEROic is Sciton’s most advanced BroadBand Light treatment. Unlike traditional IPL systems, it delivers light energy more precisely, more evenly and much more efficiently across the skin. We also have the option of choosing from 8 different wavelengths making treatment incredibly bespoke and allowing us to safely treat a wider variety of skin types.

Rather than resurfacing the skin, BBL HEROic targets specific pigments and blood vessels beneath the surface. This allows it to treat concerns such as:

  • Sun damage
  • Freckles
  • Age spots
  • Facial redness
  • Rosacea
  • Acne
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Cherry angiomas
  • Broken capillaries

It also stimulates collagen production, helping skin become clearer, brighter and healthier over time. Because treatment is fast and involves very little downtime, many patients choose to incorporate maintenance sessions every 4 months  into their long-term skin health plan.

What is MOXI Tribrid?

MOXI Tribrid is a, non-ablative fractional laser that focuses on improving overall skin quality. We describe it as our polishing laser for glass skin!

Instead of targeting pigment alone, it creates tiny controlled treatment zones within the skin that encourage natural repair and regeneration. Over the following weeks, healthier skin replaces older damaged cells, leading to smoother texture, refined pores, improved pigmentation and improved radiance.

Patients often ask whether MOXI Tribrid is only suitable for younger people. In reality, we use it across a wide range of ages.

For patients in their twenties and thirties, it is an excellent preventative treatment that supports collagen before more significant ageing develops. For patients over 40, it provides ongoing maintenance between more intensive laser treatments such as HALO Tribrid.

One of its biggest advantages is its versatility. MOXI Tribrid is suitable for all skin types and can be used throughout the year with appropriate skin preparation and aftercare.

When is HALO Tribrid the better option?

Some patients require more than gentle skin renewal. Years of cumulative sun exposure, acne scarring or deeper textural changes and wrinkles often need a more comprehensive approach.

HALO Tribrid is designed specifically for this. Unlike many laser treatments, HALO Tribrid combines multiple wavelengths to treat all  depths of the skin during a single session. This allows it to improve both surface damage and deeper dermal remodelling simultaneously.

At Takroni Clinic, we would normally recommend HALO Tribrid for patients with:

  • More advanced sun damage
  • Acne scarring
  • Deeper pigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Significant textural irregularities
  • More established signs of ageing

Although recovery is slightly longer than MOXI Tribrid, the level of improvement can also be even greater, making it an excellent option for patients looking for a more dramatic skin refresh with best results seen 3 months post treatment. For more significant signs of ageing or acne scarring we recommend a course of 2 sessions around 3 months apart.

Why are BBL HEROic and MOXI Tribrid so often combined?

Although both treatments improve overall skin quality, they do so in very different ways. Rather than choosing between them, many patients achieve better results by stacking the two in one treatment session.

BBL HEROic is particularly effective at treating visible pigmentation, redness and signs of sun damage. MOXI Tribrid, on the other hand, focuses on renewing the skin from within, helping to refine texture, soften the appearance of pores and stimulate fresh collagen production by gently resurfacing, speeding up the results.

Because they target different concerns, the treatments work together exceptionally well. While BBL HEROic helps create a clearer, more even complexion, MOXI Tribrid enhances the skin’s overall quality, leaving it smoother, healthier and more radiant. We recommend a course of 3 sessions followed by maintenance sessions every 4-6 months for best results.

At Takroni Clinic, we often recommend this combination for patients who are beginning to notice the early signs of ageing or accumulated sun damage but don’t require a more intensive resurfacing treatment such as HALO Tribrid or Erbium deep laser resurfacing. It offers noticeable improvement with relatively little downtime, making it a popular choice for patients looking to refresh their skin without a lengthy recovery.

We always advise that  patients  continue with periodic BBL HEROic and MOXI Tribrid treatments after achieving their initial results. Used as part of a long-term maintenance plan, they can help keep the skin looking brighter, more even and healthier year after year.

When do we combine BBL HEROic with HALO Tribrid?

For more advanced concerns, we frequently combine BBL HEROic with HALO Tribrid. This pairing allows us to address several different processes occurring within ageing skin at the same time.

BBL HEROic improves redness, pigmentation and vascular changes, while HALO Tribrid resurfaces damaged tissue and stimulates deeper collagen remodelling.

Rather than simply making the skin appear brighter, this approach creates meaningful structural improvement.

We often recommend this combination for patients with:

  • Long-standing sun damage
  • Significant pigmentation
  • More advanced photoageing
  • Acne scarring
  • Fine lines and wrinkles alongside uneven skin tone

Following treatment, many patients continue with periodic BBL HEROic or MOXI Tribrid sessions to maintain the results achieved with HALO Tribrid. This layered approach often produces more consistent long-term improvements than relying on a single treatment alone.

Can BBL HEROic treat cherry angiomas and broken capillaries?

BBL HEROic is an excellent option for many cherry angiomas and superficial, small red broken capillaries such as those around the nose and cheeks.

Cherry angiomas are small, bright red vascular lesions that commonly appear on the chest, abdomen, back and arms as we get older. Although harmless, many patients choose to have them removed for cosmetic reasons. Because cherry angiomas contain concentrated blood vessels, they respond particularly well to carefully selected wavelengths of light found in BBL Heroic treatment.

During treatment, the light energy is absorbed by the blood vessel within the angioma. The vessel gradually breaks down and is naturally cleared by the body over the following weeks.

The procedure is quick, requires little downtime and can often treat multiple lesions during the same appointment.

At Takroni Clinic, we always assess each vascular lesion carefully before treatment to ensure it is appropriate for BBL HEROic. If there is any uncertainty regarding diagnosis, further medical assessment may be recommended before proceeding.

Which treatment is best for your skin?

The right treatment depends less on your age and more on what your skin actually needs, your lifestyle and goals. During your consultation, we’ll assess your skin concerns, overall skin health and treatment goals before recommending the most appropriate approach.

In general:

  • BBL HEROic is often recommended for patients with mild to moderate pigmentation, redness, sun damage and uneven skin tone. It can be used anywhere on the body for an overall rejuvenation.
  • MOXI Tribrid is ideal when improving skin texture, enlarged pores, early signs of ageing and overall skin quality is the primary goal. A fantastic prejuvenation treatment.
  • BBL HEROic + MOXI Tribrid is a popular stack of treatments  for patients with multiple concerns, offering comprehensive rejuvenation by addressing pigmentation, redness and skin texture in the same treatment and faster results.
  • HALO Tribrid, often combined with BBL HEROic, is typically recommended for more advanced concerns such as significant sun damage, deeper wrinkles, acne scarring and more noticeable textural changes.

Every consultation begins with a detailed assessment because no two patients, or two skins, age in exactly the same way. A personalised treatment plan almost always produces better, more natural-looking results than choosing a treatment based on online research alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is BBL HEROic painful?

Most patients describe the treatment as feeling of warm against the skin. The corrective stage of treatment can feel like a hot elastic band against the skin followed by some tingling. Built-in cooling technology helps keep treatment comfortable.

Can BBL HEROic and MOXI Tribrid be performed on the same day?

Yes. These treatments are commonly combined during a single appointment because they target different aspects of skin rejuvenation.

How many sessions of MOXI Tribrid are usually recommended?

Many patients benefit from an initial course of three to four treatments followed by a maintenance session every 4-6 months.

Is HALO Tribrid better than MOXI Tribrid?

It depends on what you are hoping to achieve and if you are open to a bit more downtime with the halo tribrid.  HALO Tribrid will create deeper rejuvenation as we are combining the Moxi Tribrid laser wavelength with 2 other laser wavelengths in one highly personalised treatment to treat every layer of skin. It is fantastic for more advanced skin concerns, while MOXI Tribrid is ideal for gentle rejuvenation, prevention and ongoing maintenance.

How many BBL HEROic treatments are needed for cherry angiomas?

Many cherry angiomas respond well after 3 sessions, although larger or more numerous lesions may require additional treatment.
