If you are concerned about conditions such as: lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, dull skin, acne scarring and thinning hair, Takroni Clinic may recommend the PRP treatment. This can be used on the face and body to help rejuvenate the look and feel of the skin, or to stimulate the regrowth of hair. Your concerns will be thoroughly assessed at a pre-treatment consultation to enable your very own treatment plan to be put together.
PRP is carried out in two stages. A small amount of your own blood will be used in this treatment so the first step is to harvest a sample before it is spun in a centrifuge. This separates the blood cells from the plasma which is then specially prepared.
The second stage is when we inject the Platelet Rich Plasma into specific places of the chosen area(s). The treatment can be used on its own or in combination with other rejuvenating procedures.
The PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) often produces more effective results when it is left on the treated area. We may recommend that you do not wash the region where the treatment has been administered until the next day, when any sensitivity will also have eased. Be sure to clean the area using gentle motions and for exposed skin, a high SPF is advised.
When the Plasma is introduced to the skin and tissues it releases its growth factors. This encourages the cells to naturally repair and regenerate which, for the skin, works to improve its overall quality and condition for a smoother, more radiant appearance. When used in places where the hair is thinning, the functioning of the follicles improves, and new growth is stimulated for hair that looks fuller and healthier.

PRP is often found to be suitable for a variety of people, addressing a wide range of concerns. You may not be recommended if you have any of the following conditions: Hepatitis C, HIV or AIDS, skin cancer, blood cancer or cardiovascular disease (as you would be taking blood thinners).

Redness, slight swelling and bruising may occur, and all benefits and risks will be discussed in detail at your appointment before proceeding. Your treatment is always carried out by an experienced clinician to ensure your safety.
At Takroni Clinic we provide you with the opportunity to have a numbing cream applied to help minimise any potential discomfort. This is applied before the treatment takes place and starts to work after 20 or 30 minutes. When treating the face this can help to ensure comfort throughout the procedure. For the hair, your clinician can use a device to distract from any sensitivity or a local anaesthetic can be used.
PRP rarely causes adverse side effects however, tenderness, redness, swelling and minor bruising is common. Taking care of the treated area will help to minimise the risk of post-injection complications.
